It is common for most people to reheat left-over foods specially when there is an occasion like birthday parties, fiestas and other events. Instead of throwing left-over foods, many people tend to reheat the foods. It is a way of saving money and effort of cooking another dish. It is never a bad idea to eat once  again foods that once served but many people are not aware that it can have a bad impact to human health. Though not all foods are dangerous when reheated, it is important for us to be aware that once these foods have left-overs, never reheat it. Rice is a staple food for the Filipinos. It is very common that whenever rice that are not consumed during breakfast, it is a common situation to reheat it so we can consume it the next meal. We are not aware that reheating rice can have dangerous impact in our health.

When rice is cooked, it will generate pores that can be a very good medium for bacteria. If kept in a warm environment, these pores will grow and also the bacteria will grow. If we will reheat rice, the more pores it will create that it can be a reason to have a problem in our digestive system. If you have rice left over and you want to store it, just put it in the fridge to prevent the spread of bacteria.


Leftover foods with vegetable oil should not be reheated as it has a detrimental effect on heart health. When the polyunsaturated oils, which contain linoleic acid such as sunflower oil andcorn oil, are heated, they release a compound called HNE. It is a dangerous toxin that can cause a person to develop Alzheimer's disease, cancer. In addition, it will also increase the fat and cholesterol content of foods with vegetable oil. We also know that cholesterol constricts blood vessels and thus increases one's blood pressure. Therefore, it is advisable to not reheat these foods to prevent cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and heart attack.


Green, leafy vegetables like lettuce, spinach, beets, and kinchay have high levels of nitrates. It is a compound that when exposed to heat can release toxins that are harmful to health. Researchers have proven that when children who eat these reheated vegetables experience seizures, extreme fatigue, and shortness of breath.
