Published

on

“I challenge the honorable Vice President Leni Robredo, deny.

‘Godmother of bullies’

“When you allow bully, you’re also the biggest bully. You’re the godfather of bully, in this case, godmother,” giit ng Aksyon Demokratiko standard bearer.

baby namer

From relishing her  hobby of exploring perfect names for newborn babies to maintaining a stable career out of it, a 33-year-old woman has come a long way as a professional “baby namer”; earning from $1,500 to $10,000 per client.

In a recent report from The New Yorker, Taylor A. Humphrey was introduced as a woman who has always been obsessed with baby names all her life; from reading baby name books that her mother got for her as a child to carefully picking the perfect character names when she was a screenwriter, to launching an Instagram page named @whatsinababyname in 2015.

Now, her advice videos has received over 1.7 million views and she has been working hard for her chosen career path; researching the trends, familiarizing cultures, checking out street signs, watching the whole film credits, and observing a lot of things that can help her find the right names for the next clients’ kids. Apart from earning a living, for Taylor, picking names is more of a passion; something rewarding and something that she can be proud of.

“While it’s easy to say that I name people’s babies for a living, my work is so much deeper and more nuanced than that,” she told People in an interview.

“My job is to hold space, and provide spiritual, emotional, and physical support for my clients as they progress through the major life transition of becoming a parent,” the professional baby namer continued.

“While I offer name expertise, my work centers on supporting the expectant parent and leading them back to their inner place of wisdom and intuition. “I have built my business on the premise that parents already know the right answer; sometimes they just need a bit of guidance to remember and access the knowledge that already exists inside of them,” she added.

‘In between tasks, I give my baby a hug’: Professionals share thoughts, feelings on work-from-home setup

work-from-home

More and more professionals, “busy bees”, and career-driven individuals have been adapting to the remote or work-from-home setup. And a lot of them have been seeing this as a blessing in disguise because amid tons of obligations and daily grind, they can now spend time with their loved ones even as they continue to fulfill their responsibilities and tasks.

In the business-oriented social networking site LinkedIn, Wesley Henry, a successful account executive, shared how he feels about the current setup of working from the safety of his home.

“I am so thankful for the ability to work from home,” he began. “Daily, I am surrounded by three littles. Some mornings, I’m on ‘baba’ and diaper duty. Other mornings, I’m setting out cereal bowls or toasting toast. I hear their playful laughs or every now and then, the baby crying. They bounce in and out of my ‘office’ after they finish getting their hair brushed asking me if they look beautiful.”

“Every chance I get I go check in to see what’s happening,” he shared. “Without fail I’m immediately stopped by my six-year-old for a hug and then, my five-year-old wants a hug, then they both want a kiss on the cheek. Baby runs to me for a big hug repeating, ‘Dada!’ These moments mean everything to me. No amount of money can replace them. It’s no longer work/life balance. It’s work/life integration.”

In the comments section of his post, which got over 15,000 reactions, many shared how they have been liking the work-from-home scenarios. Like Alan Rosa, who came up with a realization that “not being home has a cost”.

“Wesley, you articulated it perfectly. These last two years have been tough on many and if I learned anything, it’s this, not being home has a cost. Instead of wasting time on a morning commute, I invest time in having breakfast with my family and being home in time for supper. When my kids want to see me, they know where Dad is, I’m easy to find. It’s utter nonsense that to maintain company culture you have to be in the office. If your culture is that frail, then all the office time in the world won’t fix it. I truly hope that we don’t give up on the importance of principle of work-life harmony simply out of deference, we can do better,” he wrote.

On a more touching note, new father, Tommy Huynh, loves that he can go to his baby to kiss her and hug her whenever he wants.

Meanwhile, if most have experience the work-from-home setup because of the pandemic, some employees have been relishing the perks many years before. And they could not be more grateful.
