Leon Barretto asks dad Dennis Padilla: Is public sympathy really more important to you?

Days after comedian Dennis Padilla posted and then deleted a reminder to his children with ex-wife Marjorie Barretto that they forgot to greet him on Father’s Day, his son Leon Barretto has spoken up.

Leon posted his letter for Dennis on Instagram and said that “it seems that social media is your preferred way to reach us so maybe I can try it too.”

Julia and Claudia’s brother apologized for not being able to greet Dennis on Father’s Day and explained that it has always been an awkward day for them.

“Sorry if I wasn’t able to greet you a ‘Happy Father’s Day.’ It’s always been an awkward day for us cause we never seem to know where we stand with you every year. I’ve always envied people who never even have to think twice about greeting their dads a ‘Happy Father’s Day,’” Leon admitted.

He added that they have been trying to rebuild their connection with him, but it is challenging for them because Dennis talks about their private matters in public.

“Papa, why does it seem like you enjoy hurting your kids in public? Why do you keep posting cryptic posts about us and allow people to bash us on your own instagram page? Do you think it does not pain all of us to not feel protected by their own father?”

Leon said they are thinking twice about reaching out to Dennis because it does not usually end well.

“Is public sympathy really more important to you than your own children? Your words have the power to destroy your children, papa,” he said, explaining that his decision to speak up stemmed from his desire to protect his sisters.

“For years I watched my sisters get torn into pieces because of your false narratives and not once did they ever explain their side nor speak negatively about you in public. It’s exhausting, papa. As the only man in the family, this is me stepping up to protect my sisters,” he said.

“I long for the day when I can greet you a ‘Happy Father’s Day’ and know that it comes from a place of gratitude and healing.”

Actress Anne Curtis expressed her gratitude to her “It’s Showtime” family for letting her experience helping other people through the pot money they collected in the show’s “Vest in Spelling” segment.

Anne was tasked to do random acts of kindness and share the P32,400 pot money from the program, which she gave away to four street workers – two junk collectors, a balloon vendor, and a fish vendor – in Mandaluyong and Makati. Each received P8,100.

“I was really looking for people who are really striving hard for a living. Tingin ko kasi, silang yung talagang deserving, ‘yung nakikita mong nagtatrabaho,” she said.

She added that she was touched to hear that these people are working hard in order to provide for their family.

[Sabi nga nila,] ‘Ay salamat makakauwi na kami,’” she said; adding that the fish vendor was still waiting to sell two pieces of fish at noon time.

Vice Ganda added that being exposed to other people’s lives is an eye opener for them.

Anne said this is why she is thankful to be given the opportunity to share their blessings.

“Sobra akong happy. All of them were telling me na ‘yung kinikita nila was for their family, mga apo, mga anak kaya nakakatuwa na maka-experience ng ganito. Kaya maraming salamat, ‘Showtime’ family, for giving me this opportunity.”

Maaalagaan ko pa ba ‘to pag ganitong edad?

So mangyayari’t mangyayari talaga siya by hook or by crook.”

“It was a moment that I have long waited for. It was a moment na gusto ko nang mangyari nung oras din na yun. Nung na-meet ko si Ion, na-share ko ‘to sa Showtime, I realized that I was so blessed because I finally found that one person that I both want and need. I want him to be in my life and I need him to be in my life.”

“Surely your goodness and unfailing love will follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever,” caption niya sa ibinahaging wedding photos.

“Finally I’m no longer a virgin. It took 37 years,” makulit na caption nito sa kaniyang Instagram post.

“This girl is very cool kasi parang alam mo yon?

“For those three days na di siya nagre-reply, nagsusumbong ako kay Lord. Sabi ko kay Lord, ‘Lord, I don’t know, pero gusto ko itong taong ito. Pero hindi naman siya nagre-reply. I was just pronouncing blessings to her life.

“I’m enjoying this person. I like everything about him.
