PH bags ‘World’s Leading Beach, Dive Destination’ awards for 2022

The Philippines has been cited as the world’s leading beach and dive destination for 2022 by an award-giving body recently.

At the 29th World Travel Awards Grand Final Gala Ceremony held in Muscat, Oman, the Philippines bagged both the ‘World’s Leading Beach Destination’ and ‘World’s Leading Dive Destination’ for this year.

The Philippines bested other nominees such as 2021 and 2020 winner The Algrave, Portugal, Maldives (2019), Jamaica (2018) and Galapagos Island (2017).

“These global victories for the Philippines evince the unparalleled beauty of our country and the distinct warmth of the Filipino people. We sincerely thank the World Travel Awards and everyone from all over the world whose vote of confidence is timely as the Philippines fully opens its arms to welcome tourists to our shores,” said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco in a statement.

This is also the fourth year in a row that the country has been chosen as the World’s Leading Dive Destination over other popular diving destinations such as the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Cayman Islands, Maldives, Fiji, Mexico, Azores Islands, French Polynesia, Galapagos Islands, St. Kitts, and Belize.

Meanwhile, three other PH establishments have also been recognized by the World Travel Awards namely Amanpulo, as the World’s Leading Dive Resort 2022; City of Dreams Manila, as the World’s Leading Casino Resort 2022; and Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila, as the World’s Leading Serviced Apartments 2022.

Other WTA nominations from the Philippines include Siargao for the World’s Leading Island Destination, Intramuros for the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction, and the Department of Tourism (DOT) for orld’s Leading Tourist Board for 2022.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 with an objective “to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.”

“Viewed in light of all the foregoing, and taking the evidence presented in the bail hearings as a whole, this court is not convinced at this point, that there exists a presumption great leading to the inference of the accused’s guilt,” ayon sa nasabing court order.

“It must be emphasized, however, that a grant of bail does not prevent the Court, as trier of facts, from making a final assessment of the evidence after full trial on the merits,” dagdag pa nito.

“Wherefore, premises considered, the petition for bail is hereby GRANTED. The bail of the accused for his provisional liberty is hereby fixed at One Million Pesos (Php 1,000,000.00),” ayon pa sa court order.

Ako rin nagpahukay no’n.

“Kaya sabi nitong Catapang, gagawing tunnel? Ang layo-layo no’n.

Ang dami naming scuba divers do’n.

“The same being an operational matter, the BuCor probably did not find it necessary to inform, much less seek authorization from, the DOJ,” paliwanag ni Guevarra.
